Sept 15, 2005

  • For lab 1, rather than modeling the part on page 2, you are welcome to model a part that’s relavent to your project (with 2 caveats).
1. The part you model must be as complex as the part on p. 2 of the assignment
2. Please do something new, i.e., please don’t hand in a drawing you did freshman year. =)

Sept 13, 2005

  • Please upload your presentations and memos to your group’s wiki site and send me, Andy, and Rebecca the links rather than the files.
    • You’ll need to make sure you .ppt and .doc files are less than 2.5MB to upload them.
  • FYI, this week’s FE Review Lecture covering Strength of Materials & Materials Science will be given by Larry De Vries? Friday, September 16th at 3:30 p.m. in EMCB 105

Sept. 11, 2005

  • Homework 2 is posted, due Friday, Sept. 16

Sept. 1, 2005

  • Lab starts this Thursday/Friday and will meet in EMCB 102.
    • For the first lab (lab 0) you’ll be doing some drawing & sketching & will need:
      • A pencil
      • A black marker or pen (for reinforcing the \”good\” lines and shading)
      • Plenty of blank paper, preperably a spiral bound artists pad (8 1/2\” x 11\” or larger).
      • As preparation for Lab0, download and look at the handout on Need Finding (from my old notebooks). It gives examples of idea generation, mind maps (brain storming), and thumbnail sketches (note that when you are brain storming, you need not be serious or realistic).

  • If you need to talk about changing teams: email Dr. Provancher with your team name and faculty advisor (email by Saturday if you want to change teams)

  • Problems logging into PmWiki: email Dr. Provancher (but if you’ve forgotten your password contact a classmate or TA)
