      1. is this content at the right level

First Update Presentation

For the first update presentations of the Fall 2005 Semester, I would like each team simply to have as the focus of their presentation to explain to the Teaching Team what your project is about, what you’ve been doing since ME 3910 with your project, and what you’ll be doing. Pretend your audience is a group of undergrads from another University. That is, they have about the same technical knowledge that you do, but don’t know anything about your project.

Second Update Presentation

  • Main emphases: Customer Requirements & Bench Marking

Your presentation should include:

  • Some Bench Marking related to your project
  • Updates
  • key dates in your schedule
    • reference your current progress, whether your ahead or behind on your schedule
    • Include how you are doing on your schedule
    • what is the next thing(s) your team is focusing on?

Your memo should parallel your presentation (minus the project description and team intro).

Third Update Presentation

  • Main emphases: Bench Marking cont., Design Specifications, & Identify Critical Function Prototypes

  • Some Bench Marking related to your project OR some refinement of design specifications as a result of work that your team has been doing (maybe you won’t have anything to report here).
  • Updates on stuff your group has been focusing on.
  • Mention what you will present at the next update presentation as your Critical Function Prototype (CFP)
    • Mention your motivation and goals in choosing this CFP what you think you will learn by doing this CFP
  • key dates in your schedule
    • reference your current progress, whether your ahead or behind on your schedule
    • Include how you are doing on your schedule
    • what is the next thing(s) your team is focusing on?

Content for Third Update Presentation
(The structure or your presentation might look something like this)

  • Preview/Outline Slide
  • Schedule & status
  • Updates
    • Stuff you’ve been working on
  • Discussion of CFP candidates & criteria
  • Describe chosen CFP and justify why it was chosen and what you hope to learn from making it.
  • Review/Summary Slide

Your memo should parallel your presentation (minus the project description and team intro).

Fourth Update Presentation

  • Main emphases: Critical Function Prototype & Design Specifications cont.

  • Your main emphasis should be on presenting your Critical Function Prototype (CFP)
    • Review your motivation and goals in choosing this CFP
    • Show the design of your CFP and talk about what you learned
  • Other updates
  • key dates in your schedule
    • reference your current progress, whether your ahead or behind on your schedule
    • Include how you are doing on your schedule
    • what is the next thing(s) your team is focusing on?

Your memo should parallel your presentation (minus the project description and team intro).

Content for Fourth Update Presentation
(The structure or your presentation might look something like this)

  • Preview/Outline Slide
  • Schedule & status
  • Misc. updates (if you have time, these should be important if you include any)
  • Describe chosen CFP, reminding audience what you hoped to learn from making it.
    • Bring CFP to class if possible and show audience
    • Describe what you learned, surprises, failures, etc…
    • Take pictures and label the important things you want to show us
  • Review/Summary Slide
